Plot: In the space of about a second, successful restaurateur Dane Bergman has gone from millionaire playboy to daddy. Now he’s the sole guardian of a very adorable and willful four-year-old child, and he’s counting on his executive assistant, Pamela Atwater, to save his ass. Even if it means bringing her along on a month-long ocean-side retreat…
Pamela Atwater prides herself on being the perfect assistant. Whatever Dane wants or needs, she’s there—pretending to ignore Dane’s golden charm and drop-dead gorgeousness. On vacation, however, Pamela sees a side of Dane she never imagined. And it’s a side that tempts her to cross the line between professional and personal. But is one month enough time to prove to Dane that his perfect assistant might just be his perfect match?
My thoughts: Oh man where to start? Let’s start with my first thought on the book. “This is a max 3 stars kind of book”. Was it? Nope. I gave it 4 stars. You wanna know why? Of course you do. Here’s the deal. I cried. I freaking cried. I can count on one hand the times I’ve cried whilst reading books. I’m sure you can as well because when I cry I freaking let you guys know. I almost made it through the entire book without crying so I need credit for that alright? So why did I break? Simple, that little girl named Dani asked her dad a question. In a freaking cemetery. Yes. It was heartbreaking.
So onto the characters then. There are only three worth mentioning really. Those three are the main characters. We have Pamela, Dane and his previously unknown daughter Dani.
As we might expect Pamela and Dane get involved. I wouldn’t say romantically because they’re boss and secretary (classic) and Dane is a playboy (another classic). It’s more of a sexual relationship. All this while Pam is supposed to be helping Dane to become the father Dani needs and the father Pam knows he can be. Do we smell trouble? Yes, we do. Because of course it’s never just sex. Okay so I won’t tell you guys everything. You should read it for yourselves.
So we’ve covered the first time I cried and what happens with the characters, for the most part anyway. But I didn’t just cry once, you guys! I cried twice, yes twice! The last chapter has a totally cry-worthy, swoon-worthy scene. This I won’t spoil. You really need to read this for yourselves.
Also, to further add to the awesomeness. It’s sexy. Totally steamy. Yummy.
