Mother, wife, private investigator, vampire – Sam Moon’s been around the block. Now, unlife brings her to New Orleans to test her mettle against a new kind of lurking evil…
I really liked this book. It was fun and quirky, and a great vampire story that doesn’t get lost in the sea of vampire books.
The plot was really interesting. Samantha Moon is sent to New Orleans to track down a missing girl. Due to some bad luck, Samantha is sent back in time, to 1860’s New Orleans instead. There she both have to deal with adapting to the ways of the time, and the supernatural community that existed in New Orleans already back then. Lo and behold, a murder case is also thrown in her face shortly after arriving 155 years back in time. New Orleans is the perfect setting for this book and adds an extra air of mystery to the plot.
Samantha is a really interesting character and really lovable. She is badass yet gentle. I loved seeing her battle with her inner demon (literally in this case) and overall dealing with being a creature of the night. The other chracters are also very interesting and definitely all add something to the story.
It ends on a cliffhanger that definitely has me wanting more!
Do I recommend it?
Yes, I do. If you love vampires, mystery and anything paranormal, then this is for you.
